If your Welsh Springer Spaniel is not yet in the database, please consider
having the
name added.

New Database Access Mechanism
A new database access mechanism has been implemented.
This new (and otherwise transparent) method of retrieving database records
causes the Pedigree Tree and Progeny Report pages
to be displayed on average ten times faster than before.

Pedigree/Progeny List Sort Option
A new sort option has been added to the initial Pedigree/Progeny List.
The list of search results
may now be ordered by offspring name (the default),
offspring birthdate, sire name, or dam name.

Sire/Dam Rank Report
A new Sire/Dam Rank Report has been implemented.
The report displays the top 50 Welsh Springer Spaniels, either sires or dams,
by their rankings in one of three categories:
by number of breedings, by number of offspring, or by number of offspring
who have had offspring.
The list can be sorted either by rank or by birthdate.
The rankings should be considered incomplete in that the database itself is incomplete.
There will be a bias toward dogs from
countries where more complete data has been made available
(for example, the Netherlands).
In the same way, more recent dogs will be favored over dogs from the past.
The Sire/Dam Rank Report is accessed from the REPORTS link.

Proposed Mating Report
A new Proposed Mating Report has been implemented.
The report displays a Pedigree Tree for an imaginary "Puppy" resulting
from the mating of any sire and dam in the database.
The Proposed Mating Report is accessed from the REPORTS link after
a dog name has been established.

Database Statistics Report
A new Database Statistics Report has been implemented.
The report displays general summary statistics for the database
(for example, the number and percentage of records in the database that include
a birthdate or hip score).
The Database Statistics Report is accessed from the REPORTS link.

Progeny Report
A new Progeny Report has been implemented that groups the offspring for a dog
with the mates he or she has been bred with.
Within the mate grouping, the offspring are ordered by birthdate, then by name.
A synopsis is displayed at the top of the report
that summarizes the breeding history of the dog
and provides links to the mate groupings on the report.
The Pedigree/Progeny List is now displayed only when first matching a
dog's name.
Subsequent clicks on the navigation links will now display either a Progeny Report
or Pedigree Tree.
Finally, the 4-GEN link has been replaced with a generic REPORTS link
where the four-generation pedigree tree and other reports can be
generated (if a dog name has been established).

Search Enhancements
Initial database searches can now be done on a dog's
registration number (if available) when using the Pedigree display.
In addition, several data items can now
be omitted or excluded from lists and displays:
registration numbers, call names, hip scores, birthdates, and links or photos.
Select these items only if you do not want them to appear.

4-Generation Pedigree Enhancements
Three new options are now available on the '4-GEN' four generation pedigree page.
Dog registration numbers can now be displayed if desired.
In addition, to increase the chance that the pedigree will print on a single page,
the titles belonging to dogs in the last (oldest) pedigree column are now omitted by
default (but can be displayed if desired).
Finally, if desired, all titles for all dogs can be omitted.

4-Generation Pedigree
Four-generation pedigrees can now be created for dogs in the Welsh Springer
Spaniel database.
The format has been designed for easy printing.
