Except for the championship titles in front of the dog names, most titles have been
accepted and entered as they were originally encountered.
For championship titles, an attempt has been made to add the country of origination.
When no country is included with the title, the championship can usually be assumed
to be American (but not always).
Because of the importance of the Scandinavian countries to the world of Welsh (specifically
Sweden and Finland),
an effort has been made to preserve their championship title conventions
and to maintain the distinctions of show champion, obedience champion, etc.
In Sweden, show champion is abbreviated as "UCH"
(for the Swedish "utställningschampion"), while
in Finland, show champion is abbreviated as "MVA"
(for the Finnish "muotovalio").
To simplify the titles in the database
and because they follow the same pattern, the Finnish title abbreviations have been mapped
to the Swedish abbreviations.
The Swedish abbreviations are used
not because their championship titles are more numerous (in fact, they are
quite rare), but because the presence of "CH" makes the abbreviations
more commonly understood.
